Extra - Trip to Saint-Louis Jazz Festival

Leaving Nouakchott towards the South!

Finally crossed the border... much greener over here!

Famous bridge leading to the main island of Saint-Louis

Terrible traffic...

Arriving at the lovely Hotel Dior...

So sad... dead dolphin on the beach...

P.S.: Don't be disappointed that there are no pictures of the festival... I just didn't take the camera, phone etc along to avoid to get it stolen...

Journey itinerary map

Then the ferry from Barcelona to Tanger. Before continuing:

Day 11 - 19/05 Dakhla - Nouakchott

Before leaving Dakhal let's get some more of the dirty cheap gasoil... about 50 Cents pl!!

How is it going today?

Getting close to the border.

After having quite quickly achieved all the formalities we left Morocco and entered the no man's land  between Morocco and Mauritania...

The area could also be called a car - cemetery...

At least we know that where the camels are it's safe territory...

Ok, we might not have taken the best passage... Passattier for the first time stucked in sand!

But of course this is a problem the man from the desert can solve...

Finally getting closer to the Mauritanian border!

Ohh, how welcoming... but looks somewhat closed!

Hm, the road does not look that much different over here!

And crossing the railway tracks leading from Nouadhibou to Zouérat mines...

Someone is very impatient to get home...

Starting to be really thirsty and hungry...

Finally the gare du Nord! Ok, there is not much to eat but still better than nothing!

But still some desert to cross before finally arriving...

Home in Nouakchott. Good old Carina waiting for us, doesn't know yet about its cruel destiny..

And what's the novality in Nouakchott?
Well, now there is a Chinese radio station, teaching how to speak Chinese and playing all our favourite tunes!

Day 10 -17/05 Tan Tan Plage - Dakhla

Leaving our hotel on the sea...

How strange a huge Korean food place next to the gas station...

Is this the right way?

Flamingos on the way!

Lunch in Laayoun..

Ah wie schön, die Strasse wird repariert... schade dass wir deshalb Piste fahren müssen!

Finally coming closer to Dakhla.

The kite-surfer beach.

Fancy modern Dakhla... Aushängeschild einer Besetzungsmacht.

View from our down-town hotel room. It was too cold and windy to stay next to the sea...

View on the military airport...
